Intuition and Nutrition at Perimenopause
- Elena Mary
Well I always think if we lived in community, eating natural local food, in tune with the cycles of our bodies and the earth-our experience of perimenopause would be very different.
It sounds so simple! But as we know its not exactly easy in the modern world to live as nature intended....
It is so much easier to respond to an add telling you that your body is failing you but that all you need is the latest cutting edge supplement, and then takes you straight to a link to next day delivery. Easy maybe.. but not simple- because how do we know that this latest cutting edge research is better for us than the other latest cutting edge research? How do we know if this is right for our bodies? Our time of life? the current season? How do we know that we even need it? That it doesn't deplete something else?
Perhaps we could ask AI, that also makes it so easy... but as we know that is also not simple.
Sometimes it is can be really useful to find someone that we trust to support us that takes all of these questions into account and helps us see the bigger picture. But I also feel that we have an amazing support within ourselves that is always available to us that IS simple…
Listening to our intuition can take work though- it can be almost like strengthening a muscle-it actually takes practice, and it also takes devotion- devotion to ourselves. It takes being able to trust ourselves, and acknowledge our own power, in a world where it has become so easy to turn outside ourselves for answers.
But it also works both ways- nourishment on all levels of body mind and soul, I believe will in turn support our intuition! I see the body almost like a channel and if it is clear we will hear more easily without interference!
But again it’s not always easy when in modern life it sometimes feels easier to access food that is not really food, and ‘natural’ or ‘organic’ need their own special labels. Not to mention all the other interference.
At perimenopause, although there can be so much conflicting advice around what to do and what not to do, and it can feel overwhelming- is also a time I believe when we have an opportunity to really access our intuitive wisdom perhaps on an even deeper level.
So for all of these reasons at perimenopause it can be a really good time to devote ourselves to developing this connection, back to ourselves and our inner wisdom, and nourish ourselves on all levels.
And I feel that once we have made a stronger connection to our intuition it is easier to turn to the wisdom and knowledge of others that can also be so useful- and take what feels right for us.
The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift. Einstein
Here are a few ideas that might be helpful to start anyway...
This is from my online empowered perimenopase course which you can find here
Other things that I think help us choose what feels right to us are asking questions like- where I am in my own cycle, the season, my dosha, and also my finances and capacity! We can only do our best in each moment.
What do I feel I most need in terms of nourishment in this moment and what is available to me?
This topic is also included in my new online multidimensional healing course which covers nourishing body, mind and soul to support us in connecting with our intuition and life force energy for healing of ourselves, others and the earth. You are welcome to join my free introduction on Tuesday 28th here
